Catrin and Adrian are two super nice German designers who go by the name of Pixelgarten. How did you guys meet. Was it obvious that you want to work together when you first met?

There's no daily routine - every day is new. At the moment we are also teaching at university 2 days a week - theese days are totally different to the days in the office. Hard to say... actually every current project is our favourite...

Is there a dream project you would like to work on one day?

It may sound cheesy but - every new project is a dream project ;) (even if some turn out to be not in the end ;)) - no seriously - every new project has it's own topic. Sure we had used paper before and we new about the variety of paper for printing - but we didn't know about technical papers or how paper is used in architecture or product design. Hear him talk about happiness, "the three P's" and artificial intelligence!Philipp Zurmöhle: So let's start with the most amazing standard question: What's your main inspiration? Is it certain artists, arts or people? Or even something totally different?Zeptonn: This is always a tough question to answer. I believe it is many things: other artists, culture, festivals, music, film, books, and so on. I believe at least a part of my inspiration is happening on an unconscious level, which is why it is so hard to pin down what inspires me, cialis for sale. Sometimes I only realize after the fact that something inspired you, because with hindsight, I can see that there are similarities in some form or other. Inspiration can often be on a more abstract level as well: I see someone doing something really awesome, and just feel like, wow I wish I had thought of that. What kinds of music?As said above, I believe part of inspiration happens at an unconscious level, so most likely music plays a part in what I do. Sometimes I'm really in the mood for hard and energentic music and sometimes I put up something slow and relaxing – it really depends on the project I'm working on and the mood I'm in. The type of music that I like is music that reinvents itself, that tries out new things, is progressive and unpredictable. It might sound strange but I do get what you mean. Maybe we should split the question into two parts: "is there also boring and serious work, and do you believe work can always be fun?" I think you should always aim to enjoy your work, feel passionate about it, and aim for satisfaction. This doesn’t mean that the work itself should be fun to see or look at, or that it can’t be about serious subjects, cialis for sale. Part of feeling good about my work, and having a great time, is to really select my clients and projects carefully: do I really want to spend time with these people and these subjects. Do I really feel that what they do is something that I understand, feel strong about, and can relate to. Part of doing a fun and successful project is that the client and I understand each other, and are on the same level with respect to my thoughts about the world and what is good. Would you say this helped you getting new commissions?I wouldn’t say that these media themselves actually help in getting new commissions, but more that they are part of a broader way of being in touch with the world around you, which might help to get commissions, cialis for sale. It won’t happen if you just sit and wait behind your computer, you will have to show yourself to the world. And one of the ways to do so is by putting work online, and communicating about it.I sometimes get to advise other designers/illustrators about their work, and the best advice I can give is to find a strategy that brings you more work that works for you – and not copy a strategy that worked for someone else. It’s not just that twitter or flickr will help you to get jobs, it’s that for one person it will be a good medium to communicate in, and for the other it won’t. There are designers out there who got printed many times more than I did – they probably understand the ‘winners formula’ much better than I do. Not only does your design have to appeal to a very big audience, it also has to stand out from what has been done before, it has to attract the attention of the Threadless crew, and it has to come in at the right time. I really do believe in a positive outlook and hope to spread as much of that as I can. Initial responses to my work from people are often that it brings a smile to their face, or that they just can’t help but feel good – if only for a little while.So I try to show positive things, happy images, and hope to help people see the good and positive in their personal situations. Here is an example: if it rains and you are on a bike, you can say “why is this happening to me” and have a lot self-pity, and feel bad, but this won’t change a thing (it won’t stop raining for example!). Nonetheless, this doesn’t have to mean that design would always be a part of my working life. Connecticut CT Conn., Do you think it is important to change media from time to time?Yeah I think it does help, for myself at least, to keep things interesting, unpredictable and challenging. I mentioned above that in order for a project to be fun and successful, there has to be a good match between you and the client. There’s a number of other things involved for me personally as well: a perfect project includes what I call “the three P’s”: Pleasure, Payment and Prestige.Let me explain that a bit. Pleasure here means that it will be fun to work on the job itself, something that is obviously aided by working with good and fun people with whom you have a match in motives and outlook. That one will open the 9th of October and will last till 7th of November.I recently finished something exciting for Squidoo.com – an online platform set up by Seth Godin and Megan Casey. Philipp Zurmöhle: Let's start with a standard question. What's your main inspiration. Is it certain artists, Pennsylvania PA Penn., arts or people? Or even something totally different?

Ville Savimaa: Lately I have been waching my works at night time, just before going to sleep. It's interesting how you see different characters and shapes in those old works. It's a great way to open my eyes if there is difficulties to get started with something new. One big thing is to have enough rest, levitra prescription. Looking at your illustration style, I would suggest that you're inspired by traditional scandinavian imagery. Is that true and can you explain details about these arts or stories?

One of the most famous story books in Finland is Kalevala. It's a collection of stories from the nordic and baltic areas from the mid-19th century. The whole book has been kind of a mistery to me from my childhood till these days. I know some stories loosely but it's nice to fill the holes in the stories by myself. It's a great inspiration, levitra prescription. One nice detail from the book is that the world has been born from a birds egg. I'm also a big fan of Akseli Gallen Kallela who painted some works based on this book.

Do you think the scandinavian countryside and nordic circumstances of life affect your work?

For sure. I grew up close to nature and for a young boy every small cave and broken tree was a great treasure. These childhood memories definitely show in my works, Connecticut CT Conn..

Your illustrations sometimes have a melancholic or even a violent touch. Would you agree to that. Where does that come from? Levitra prescription, The violent side of my works represents more the impossibility of this modern world than violence itself. In my works I try to describe these fragile elements that keep life exciting like: desperation, hope, misunderstanding, freedom and surprises.

Do the creatures and items in your illustrations have deeper meaning or do you choose them randomly?

Well, almost every time I just start to draw one certain feeling or loose vision and keep following my instincts. It's always a discovery during the process, Buy levitra prescription, and that's nice about drawing.

How do your illustrations come to life. Do you plan the whole picture before you start or does it evolve during the process?

I always begin with pen to paper. It's easier for me to find my personal lines without the computer, levitra prescription. After sketching I complete the image digitally. At the moment I find it easier to work in digital surroundings because processing is much more flexible and I also like how the sharp lines separate different colours or halftones. When did you start to do art. Is it something that was always part of your life? Levitra prescription, I always had this need to create stuff. When I was 6 or 8 I used to produce pieces of wood without doing anything specific, Oregon OR Ore., just wanted to create something. Not sure if it was really art but it just explains my nature. Later on when I was 16 I started to write short stories and lyrics for our band. I discovered drawing a little bit later.
