
The may issue of the german design magazine novum features a four page article about my work. The magazine first published in 1924 shows graphic works by international designers. I’m glad to be in it!
This is what they write:
“This young designer is probably familiar to attentive novum readers, because we have already mentioned his projects Diet Riot and Generate Magazine. Since then Philipp Zurmöhle has not been idle, and we would now like to devote more space and attention to his work.
Music, he says, is a great source of inspiration for him: »Design and music belong together, because in both areas much is about composition and the creation of moods.« The biggest influence on his feelings and creativity is travel. Something Philipp Zurmöhle has done a lot of. In Hanover he studied visual communication, interspersed by a six-month semester in Japan. Later he did a spell of practical experience in Norway, a country to which he returned after completing his degree and trying out a few jobs in Germany.
Today he works as a graphic and Web designer at Mission Design in Oslo. Not surprisingly, Philipp Zurmöhle admits to no preferences as to areas of design, enjoying instead the challenge of always discovering new things and trying out work in a range of areas. »This gives you new insights, that can then help you in other projects,« he believes. Also, exploring new fields of work and new technologies is important because this variety keeps a designer from getting stuck in a routine, which can only lead to repetition.
For the future, however, he is keen to do more visual design for the music sector, and to design for musicians. He would also like to revive Generate Magazine (www.generate-magazine.com). But who knows what ideas his travel exploits and creative trips will lead to next … cm”
